Webcast: Global Health Leaders Discuss Strategies for Maternal and Child Health Beyond 2015

IPM CEO Dr. Zeda Rosenberg discusses how gender equality and HIV prevention technologies can lead to long-term maternal health

Dr. Zeda Rosenberg, CEO of the International Partnership for Microbicides, joined other global health leaders in the first plenary session of the 7th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health in Barcelona Mon., Oct. 3 to discuss practical strategies for improving women’s and children’s health now and in the future.

During the session, Women’s health: Delivering beyond 2015, Challenges and Strategies, Dr. Rosenberg spoke about:

  • the intersection of gender equality with maternal health
  • the ways in which HIV prevention technologies like microbicides could address the multi-dimensional nature of women’s health and empowerment, and lead to improved long-term maternal health
  • the integration of family planning initiatives in biomedical approaches to HIV prevention and in microbicide research

The ECTMIH is convening more than 1,000 public health leaders in Barcelona during the four-day conference under the theme “Global Change, Migration and Health.” The 7th edition of the congress, which takes place every two years under the auspices of the Federation of European Societies for Tropical Medicine and International Health, was organized by ISGlobal through its investigation arm, the Barcelona Centre for International Health Research.
