Anja Giphart, MD, MPH

With more than 20 years of experience managing and implementing public health programs in HIV/TB, reproductive health and health systems strengthening, Dr. Giphart has served senior roles at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) since 2004. In her current position as executive vice president for medical and scientific affairs, she is responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic direction for EGPAF’s implementation, innovation and research, and technical assistance and capacity building initiatives, including relationship management with a multisectoral network of partners worldwide.

Previously, Dr. Giphart was EGPAF’s vice president for program implementation, managing all country program implementation and operations and overseeing the technical aspects of EGPAF’s in-country work. She has extensive in-country experience, including as EGPAF’s country director in Tanzania, an international health specialist for Macro International, and practicing clinician and director at hospitals in Zambia and Mozambique. 

Dr. Giphart received her medical degree from Erasmus University in the Netherlands, and her master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
