Women’s input is critical to developing effective, successful microbicide products that women will want and use.
To ensure that future microbicide products are used correctly and consistently once they are made available, IPM works directly with women to understand their needs and product preferences from early on in the product development process.
To do this, IPM conducts market research and product acceptability studies with the women in developing countries who will be using the products.
Using various placebo formulations, the information gathered through these studies informs the development of effective microbicide products that women would use in the real world to prevent HIV.
