Florence W. Manguyu, M.Med, MBChB

Dr. Manguyu is senior consultant pediatrician in clinical practice based at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in Nairobi, and she is senior policy advisor at the East African Regional Office of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI).

At AKUH, Dr. Manguyu is on the Ethics Committee and previously served on the Pharmacy Committee, which assesses medical products before they are approved for use at the hospital. At IAVI, Dr. Manguyu is the liaison to the ministries of Health, Foreign Affairs and Special Programmes, which handles HIV/AIDS issues.

Dr. Manguyu holds a master’s degree (M.Med.) in pediatrics from the University of Nairobi, a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MB, ChB) from Makerere University in Uganda, and a certificate in tropical medicine from the University of Nairobi.
